Mariah Carey, Jessica Simpson & Katharine McPhee Releasing Holiday Albums

Following up to one of the most successful christmas albums in history is Mariah Carey hoping that lightning will strike twice in the hit department for her. The diva who introduced the concept of “exhaustion” and the original tabloid queen of modern day media is said to be the best selling female artist in the history of recorded music. This title had a lot to do with her 1994 Christmas album which has sold over 10million copies, spawned the top selling ringtone of all time and is the second best selling album of all time in Japan. Every year, no matter how bad of a slump Mariah’s career may have fallen into, whether she does good or bad, her holiday music always tops the charts. News of a christmas album comes bittersweet because how does one top such a huge album? Is it even worth doing? On the other hand if Mariah’s remake of the 80′s foreigner hit I Want To Know What Love is which topped Brazil’s charts for a whopping 25+ weeks, it’s never too late to try your hand at a song even if it may have been more suiting 20 years earlier. This album should come right after Mariah has had her baby assuming from her baby bump that she’s about 4 months pregnant right now. She certainly has a lot of weight to lose. I can’t imagine her going through promo season this size. Anyway, it’s no secret that her voice isn’t what it used to be so that makes it even more shocking that she would attempt to rival a classic album that she took on at her vocal and career peak. Her longtime friend and bass-guitarist Randy Jackson will be involved so let’s hope they can make magic!

Jessica Simpson just ten years ago was the powerhouse white girl that had a huge solo debut. Between Britney, Christina, and Jessica they were everywhere and on everything. Unfortunately with Christina having the epiphany that she wanted to be a slut and Britney working her way up the crazy totem pole Jessica just couldn’t get any press. despite selling 14 million records at that time. Then the day came where she read “Tuna: chicken of the sea…” and she famously asked if tuna was chicken. From that moment on she went written off as crazy and her career hasn’t came back since. Jessica also strained a lot singing and blew out her vocal chords in 2006 during promo season having to cancel several performances. Her voice has not been the same since. Demand for a Christmas album or any other album is pretty low but all the same Jessica Simpson has had such bad luck in recent years that she needs something to turn her career around. Her first Christmas album started off by being sold in 7-11 before sequing into full fledged studio album. If this one doesn’t do well, considering where she is nowadays. it may start off in 7-11 and never make it out.

American Idol Katharine McPhee will be doing her first Christmas and third studio album. Cheers to her album’s success and that she does a better job than Jessica and Mariah at keeping down her notches on the the Crazy totem pole.

What? How? Are people really supporting this Fat Santa Claus, Ex-cop, Mafia wanna-be in the face ass rapper? I guess it’s the beats and features he has on the album. When I’m really high or drunk I can listen to this stuff, i guess, but it’s def not a better album than Eminem’s “Recovery”. What do you people think?
